WEDDING.
CORBETT—SOWMAN
A very pretty wedding was celebrated at , St Matthew's Church, yesterday afternoon, when Mr H. C. B. Corbett, son of Mrs Rayner, of Masterton, was married to Miss E. Jj. (Cissy) Sowman, eldest daughter of Mr A. Sowman, farmer, of Nelson. The bride, who was given away by hei uncle, Mr E. Hale, o.f Te Oie Ore, was dressed in white chiffon silk, the dress being trimmed with white chiffon ribbon, which was tied with true lovers' knots. She wore the orthodox veil and orange blossoms, and carried a prayer book. • Misses E. and Ruby Sowman, sisters of the bride, were the bridesmaids, and were dressed in fFrenoh muslin, with tangerine belts and hats to match. Both carried handsome boqaets. Mr Alfred Corbett, brother of the bridegroom, was best man, and Mr Ben Iveson groomsman. Mrs Rayner, mother of the bridegroom, wore a black satin dress, with heliotrope trimmings, and bonnet to match. Mrs E. Hale, aunt of the bride, was dressed in black silk, trimmed with torquoise blue. Miss Corbett, sister of the bridegroom, wore cream cashmere, with cream picture hat; Mrs J. Johnston, cousin of the bridegroom, blue cloth tailor-made costume with blaok picture hat; Mrs W. Sellar, aunt of the bridegroom, black nun's veiling; Mrs A. VV. Hogg, black voile and black picture hat; Miss Hogg, cream voile and cream picture hat; Mrs Fercy Corbett, grey voile, with pink picture hat; Mrs F. Johansen, blaok voile skirt and cream blouse; Mrs T. Thompson, black voile skirt and white silk blouse; Miss W. Rayner, sister of the bridegroom, cream canvas cloth and white Leghorn hat; Miss Sellar, India muslin and white picture hat; Miss O'Connell, cream cashmere and cream hat with cream roseß; Miss Montgomery, black with white satin trimmings; Mrs A. Poison, blaok voile and black picture hat. The' ceremony was performed by the Rev. A. M. Johnson, and Mrs P. Hunn played the Wedding March. The bridegroom's present to the bride was a handsome gold pearl and ruby heart, and to the bridesmaids pretty go!d pins. A large number of guests were present at the wedding breakfast, held subsequently at the residence of Mrs Rayner. The following toasts were ' honoured : "Bride and bridegroom," Mr A. W. Hogg—Mr 0. Corbett; "The Officiating Minister," Mr A. W. Hogg— Rev. Johnson; "Bridegroom's Mother/' Rev. Johnson- Mr A. Corbett; "Mr and Mrs Ho"gg and Family," Mr 0. Corbett—Mr Hogg; "The BridesmaidF," Mr O. Corbett —Mr B. Iveson; "Mr and Mrs E. Hale," Mr B. Iveson—Mr, Hale. A reception waß held in the evening, a large number of friends and relatives being present. The presents received by Mr and Mrs 0. Corbett were numerous and valuable.
