FURTHER EVIDENCE. CHRISTOHUROH. February 5. At the Waltbam Orphanage enquiry, to-day, Mr Norrid, Secretary to the Charitable Aid Board, continuing his evidence, denied that

he dominated the Board as was alleged by Mrs Wells, or that Mrs Welb had deliberately been kept off the institution's committee. He waa rkaily couvinced that Mrs Wells had beeu actuated bv a desire to get him out of his position. There was no systematic inspection of the orphanage. The Matron ha* practically a free hand. He thought 7a Gd a week was a fair charge for boarded out children, seeing that the Goveruuiout'B regular payment wan 7a. The enqniry waa adjourned till 10.30 to-day.
