NELSON, February 2.

The main attraction at the Carnival to day were the swimming championships and aquatic carnival and tbe band contest, with several side shows, including a Maori entertainment,. Four hundred and forty yards championship Freyberg 1, Bell 2, Bull 3. Spring board dive— Menli (Wauganui) 1. Menlli also won the iuter-olub handicap. Id the first round of the water polo Wauganui beat Wellington Swifts. The motor launch races created considerable interest. MoKenni's Moata won the five-mile and Turner's Advanoe the Wakatu five-mile. Maiden fours—Star Boating Club, Wellington, 1; Nelson, 2; Blenheim, 3. Junior fours—Wellington Stars, 1; Nelson, 2; Blenheim, 3.
