LONDON WOOL SALiiiS. (Speoial to Age). WELLINGTON, February 2. The London office of Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., cables, under date Ist inst:—The wool sales closed Arm and aotire, with brisk competition for merino wools. Prices are on a par with the closing rates of the last series. For floe crossbred wools any change in the price ia in favour of the sellers. In medium crossbred wools the prices are on a par with closing rates of the last series. Ooarse crossbred wools are on the average five per cent, lower than the closing rates uf last series. Out of the net quantity available for sale some 77,000 bales have been sold for home consumption, 78,000 bales for the Continent, and 5000 bales for America, leaving 4,000 bales to be carried forward to next series.

At the wool sales good merinos closed at five per cent, higher than the opening rates, faulty five to seven and a half per cent higher. Fine medium crossbreds were firm at December rates. Coarse crossbreds have barely maimtained late prices. The feature of the sale is ;the extraordinary demand by German and Home buyers for merinos. The future prospects are hopeful. PALMERSTON RAM FAIR.

PALMERSTON N., February 2. At the Ram Fair, to-day, there was a poor demand for Ltinoolns, whiob, on- the whole, were not first-class. Keen bidding took place for good lines of Southdowns, which realised up to 10% guineas. Some good ■ lines of flock Border Leicesters excited keen competition at moderate figures.
