* MASTERTON—TUESDAY. (Before Mr W. P.. James, S.M.)" OBSCENE LANGUAGE. • A rative named Mita Wata was oonvioted ,of haying obscene in Masfcerfcon, on the 23rd of .December, and sentenced to one month's hard labor, the Magistrate remarking that the case was a serious one. APPLICATION REFUSED. Richard Wilkins Houlfc made application for a carpenter's permit. The application was opposed by D. Christian, on behalf of the Amalgamated Society of Carpenters and Joiners, who stated that ;the fcoplicant had been apprenticed at Feiid- . ing, aud had not yet completed apprenticeship. The Magistrate declined to make an order for the permit, and advised the applicant to Qni9h his apprenticeship. BREACH Ob' APPRENTICESHIP Frank Barber was charged with having unlawfully .absented himself from the services of his employer, John Henry Meyer, of Wellington, beforo the term of his apprenticeship had expired On the application oE the police accused was remanded to appear at Wellington to-day. DEBT' CASE. . Boyd and Cook sued J. H. Crawford for the sum of £3 8a id. Judgment was given by default with costs.
