WAIRARAPA CALEDONIAN SOCIETY.
MEETING OF STEWARDS. The monthly meeting of the Directors of. the Wairarapa Caledonian Society was held on Saturday afternoon. There were nreseht—Messrs J. B. McKenzie (ohair), T. P. Lett, E. E. Chamberlain,. D. McLauchlan, A. MuLeod, T. Wyeth, D. Guild, E. H. Waddington, J. H. Pauling, J. O. McKillop, and G Stewart. A letter was received from the Park Committee stating that it was their intention to raise the rent of the Park for sports meetings in future from £lO to £ls. .... It was decided to take no action in the matter of remitting the fine of £1 imposed on F. P. Boyle for looking back in a bicycle race. A quantity of correspondence was'reoeived from John Leggatt, of Wellington, asking for a refund of his nomination and acceptance fees. Leggatt had entered for the Quoits Handicap, on New Year's Day, .but was disqualified by the judge, Mr Chamberlain, for following up his quoit after delivery, and the competitor strongly protested against this, as be thought it con trary to any rule of quoits. After discussion it was deoided to uphold the deoision of the judge, and not to refund the fees. The balance sheet for the oncert, on New Year's Night, was submitted as follows:—Receipts, £7O 13s (£65 148 in 1905); expenses, £33 14s 8d; leaving a profit of £36' 18s 4d. A bonus of £lO 10s was voted to the Secretary for additional work in connection with the concert. The finanoial outcome of the sports meeting was submitted as follows:—Receipts, £397 19s 9d (principal items being gate £lB6 12s, grandstand £2l 4s, entrance fees £62 13s, privileges £45); expenses, £398 19s 4d (principal items, prize money £245 13s, printing and advertising £35 6s 6d, rent £lO, Band £lO 10s, gatekeepers £l4 ss. The debit balance, 19s 7d, may bo accounted for from the faot that while the prize money was increased £SO, the sum of £1 4s 6d less was received for entrance fees than the previous year. One resignation from the membership was accepted, and the meeting adjourned.
