THE NORTHERN ASSOCIATION. CHAMPIONSHIP LIES BETWEEN SOUTHLAND AND VICTORIA. By Telegraph—Press Association. WELLINGTON. Jan. 12. The North Island Bowling Association Tournament was continued to-day. The weather was again beautifully fine. The competition for the championship and first prizes resolved itself into a contest beween Southland, Victoria, and Newtown. In this Southland beat Newtown, Victoria beat Southland and Newtown beat Victoria. This gave each aido a win, and the sudden death principle was adopted, and Southland beat Newtown, conse quently Southland play off with Victoria. Owiria to Southland being an unaffiliated club it is unable to take the Association's banner and the shield. Competition for these is between Gisborne, Newtown, and Victoria. To-morrow Gisborne meets Newtowa and Victora clay off with the winners.
