CRICKET.
A meeting of the Thursday Association's Committee was held on Thursday evening. Present —E. Collinge (chair), S. E. E i wards, H. Hall, V. Darroch, llart, V. Fairbrother and F. P. Welch. Messrs Collinge, Hall and Edwards were appointed a committee to draw up the fixtures, and allot the wickets for tho .second round. Pending completion of the first round the Carterton v. Star A match (second round) will be played on Thursday, January 18, oa the Park Oval, No. 1 wicket,, and for the Junior Championship Star B will play Star C . (second rountf) on the School ground on the same date, and Carlton C v. Carterton C a bye. AUCKLAND v. WELLI&GION. By Telegraph—Press Association. WELLINGTON, January 13. In the match against Auckland, whioh began to-day, Wellington scored, in their first innings, 208. They began well, Hickson batting well for 39. But six wickets were down for 118 when Waters came in, and by bright hitting ran up 42, and was still in when the innings closed for 208. The other scores were:— Br ice 22, Tucker 18, J. Blacklock 15, C. Blacklook 12, Redgrave, Laws and Monaghan 10 each. 01 iff took 4 wickets for 48 runs, Neill 3 for 43, Stemson l for 36, and McNeill 2 for 32. At the close of the day Auckland bad lost two good wickets (Lusk and Hexuus) for 8 runs. The weather and the wicket were excellent, but the attendance was small.
