TRADE WITH AMERICA.
THE NEW LINE. DUNE DIN, January 10. Mr James Mills, managing director of the Union Steamship Company, on being interviewed with re ference to the effect of the new Bucknell steam subsidised services from Canada said that no doubt the new line would divert cargo and goods from the Vancouver mail line to some extent, but he anticipated that the mail line steamers would get preference for Australian cargo, as their time from Vancouver to Sydney was 23 days, whereas the Bucknell cargo steamers, making the voyage to Australia via New Zealand ports, would require six or eight weeks. Other shipping people hero seem to expect that the advent of the new Jine will result in large exports from Vancouver which formerly went out from New York.
