UPPER PLAIN.
AGKIOULTURAL JOTTIiNGS. (Special to the Age). The crops in the district are looking well. Some of them have been out ready for carting in, while others are almost ready. The oat crops are probably the best seen here for many a season. It ia anticipated that the returns will be from 50 to 80 bushels more per acre. The potato crops are not looking so well as former years. The recent jfrosts and blight has damaged them considerably. The orchards on the Upper Plain give promise of yielding record orops of fruit, as the trees are very heavily laden. The wet weather has interfered to some considerable extent with haymaking operations. Usually by this time all the hay is in, but there are some farmers here who have yet a large quantity lying in their paddocks. The most noticeable crops on the Upper Plain are those of Messrs G. R. iSykes (oats), A. Tinsley (wheat), T). J. Cameron (wheat), G. Chamberlain (wheat), H. Vaughan (oats) and G. H. Yates (wheat). Mr Sykes has a particularly fine crop of oats, while Mr JEf. Vaughau has also a splendid crop of onions and carrots.
