hammer-throwing: record. By Telegraph—Press Association. DUNEDIN, January 4. At the Caledonian Grounds this afternoon a competition was held for a gold medal to enable FranK Ford, of inveroanjill, to attempt to break the record of 100 ft 9in of A. Cameron for throwing a 221b hammer. Ford succeeded at the second attempt in throwing the hammer 100 ft thus establishing a fresh record, which was certified tu by the Inspector of Weights and Measures and a number of gentlemen connected with the local Caledonian Society.
