THE KAPANUI DISASTER.
INQUEST ON VICTIMS. AUCKLAND, January 3. The inquest on the bodies of John Fletcher and Frederick Heavey, recovered from the steamer Karmnui, to-day, disclosed that Fletcher was a Syrian hawker, his real name being Hannah Fatooch, aged 19 years. J. T. Osborne, identified the other body as his stepson, a youth of 17. ' Thd Coroner stated thac the Mariue Court would deal with the Claymore-Kapanui collision on January 9, when the question of whether the deaths were the result of negligence or pure accident would be threshed out. The inquest was adjourned till January 21.
