EKETAHUNA NEWS.

(From Oar Own Correspondent). EKETAHUNA, Jan. 2. A swagger, whose name is unknown, was found in a dying condition in the bush about a mile on the Eketahuna side of Hastwell on Saturday. It appears that the swagger fell into, a fit, and cried (out, the noise attracting the attention of a man who happened to be working thereabouts, and whose aid was of no avail, as the sufferer expired a few minutes after his arrival. The man was apparently between the age of 35 and 10, bejng of good appearance and attired in clothes rather better than worn by the ordinary swagsman. There were no papers or marks about the man's clothes to lead to his identification, whilst of this world's possessions only a single [penny was found in his pockets. The deceased was brought into Eketahuna, where an inquest was held and a verdict, of death fxom syncope following on an epileptic fit was returned. Bis remains were interred in the local oemetery yesterday. (As deceased was seen coming from the of Masterton, .the local police have been furnished with his description by Constable ■Grey, of Eketahuna, with h view to possible identification. Inquiries have been made by the Masterton police, throughout the town, but without effeot, Deceased was a man about sft 9in in height, and of medium, athletic build, with rather sharp and narrow features, grey eyes, sandy eyebrows, square jaw, hair almcst dark brown, deeply sunken eyes, prominent Koman nose, fair complexion. Ho had a scar on the right side of the chin, and a mole on the left cheek, and from the appearance of;bis hands it would appear .that he had been recently shearing. He was dressed in a dark coloured chock tweed suit, with the exception of the waistcoat, which ■was a light striped tweerl, a soft white shirt, soft fawn felt hat, and; new blucher boots. There is nothing in the very tidy swag, which he was carrying, that would lead to his identification).
