UPPER HUTT LABOUR PARTY.
ANNUAL DANCE. FLOOR CROWDED WITH DANCERS
Monday evening last (Labour Day) saw yet another dance held by the local branch of the Labour Party, this being their fourth annual dance. Thanks to the enthusiasm of the social committee under the leadership of the seeretaxw (Mr. F. Foster) the function was a gx-eat success. Before 9 o'clock the floor was crowded. Mr. F. Smith carried out the duties of M.C., and assisted by Deans' Syncopated Oi-chesti-a, was able to keep things lively and entertaining. Miss Shix-ley Dean (aged 8 years) gave a wonderful exhibition of ballet dancing, an item gx-eatly enjoyed by the assembly. The committee x-esponsible for the arrangements were Mi - . F. Smith (chairman), Mrs. P. Robex-tson, Messrs. Price, Forrest, Scott (2), Ashfox-d, and the secretary (Mr. Fostex-), ably assisted by Mrs. Price, Messrs. J. Duske, "V. Calder, O. Plummer, T. Penrose and A. J. McCurdy. Among those present were Misses Ashford, Weatherley, McFadzean, Krohn (2), Shaw, M. Quinn, McGhie (2), Reilly, Kurth (2), Plummer, Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Calder, Mr. and Mrs. Skinley, Mr. and Mrs. F. Whitenxan, Mr. and Mrs. W. Frater, Mr. and Mrs. Cheshire, Mr. and Mrs. C. Hax-ris, Mr. and Mrs. L. Harris, Mr. and Mrs. R. Stewart, Mesdames Walke.r, Oldhaxn, Dean, Smith, Ashford, Messrs. Bailey, Frater, Young, T. Benge, Douglas, Penrose, Cropp, Skerteh, McGrath, Scott, Plummer (2), and others. The lucky prizewinners were: Monte Carlo waltz, Mr. Young and Mrs. Walker; Spot Waltz, Mr. Benge and Mrs. Ashford; ladies' Monte Cai-10, Miss Kux-th and K. Whiteman. The hall was very nicely decollated and the supper x-oom laid out in colours.
