WALLACEVILLE WOMEN'S INSTITUTE.

A successful "Social Afternoon" was held by the Wallaceville Women's Institute recently, the object being- to help the lepers of Makosai Island. In addition to a good selection of children's books and toys just over £2 was raised. The three small artists who helped to make the afternoon's programme were each presented with a. small posy of flowers. Little Misses Doris Baker and Pat Harris performed dainty solo tap dances, and Jacqueline Williams sansr and recited. Mrs. Hirshorne also sang a solo. Miss Belahamine was heartily thanked for bringing her small pupils to help in such a worthy object, and also for donating a tin of sweets which raised Bs. 4d., Mrs. M. McArthur being the winner. The games were won by Mesdames Clyde and Wale and Miss McFadzean. Mrs. Hirshorne won the competition.
