SILVERSTREAM WOMEN'S INSTITUTE.
The members of the Silverstream Women's Institute spent a very pleasant ofternoon recently, despite most inclement weather, when Mrs. Kettle-well, of Newlands, ably demonstrated eggshell mosaic. Two very handsome finished articles were much admired. These examples showed that the work could be equally effective on -wood or glass. Mesdames Dalton and Braid, of the Upper Hutt Drama Circle, entertained with an amusing duologue entitled "The Report." The combined committee for the dance, held in aid of the Wellington Free Ambulance funds, announced that the sum of £2.1 had been raised, a most gratifying amount. There were two appeals made for materials and gifts, one being- for the Institute Social Ser■vice Circle and the other for those at the Makogai Leper Station. A delicious afternoon tea, served by the hostesses, Mesdames Bown, Smyrke and Price, Misses Farrow and Mumby, brought the afternoon to a close.
