REPORT FROM WORKS COMMITTEE.
Members: His Worship the Mayor, Crs. Blewman, Guthrie and Purvis. (1) Unused portion of land at Akatarawa Cemetery: Your committee recommends that Mr. Leon Benge be given the use of the land for a term of 5 years with six months' notice on either side, on condition that he fences the portion he is to occupy and keeps it free from noxious 'weeds. (2) That the occupied portion be fenced to include the plots served by the four paths. (3) Water-Cemetery: That a grating and tub be provided. The tub to be sunk above the present drain pipe culvert. (4) Cleaning Paths Hedge Trimmed : Your committee recommends that the paths be cleaned up on the used portion of the Cemetery; also noxious ■weeds be cleared away and the hedge trimmed. (5) Scale of Charges: The committee is ocnsidering the scale of charges pertaining at the Taita Cemetery. (6) Notice Board at Cemetery: That a wooden plate be put on the present board -with the words "Apply to Town Clerk." Councillor Greig asked what the charges were at present as regards burial at the Cemetery. Councillor Purvis gave him the figures, but stated that according to the present standard rates, the whole matter had to be revised. It was decided that the committee get a scale of charges and the notice board be attended to. After further discussion all clauses were agreed to.
