WALIACEVILLE

The Wallaceville Women's Institute held its first birthday party in the Rose of Sharon Hall recently when there was a large number of members and visitors present, including representatives from the Stokes- Valley,- Silverstream, Trentham and Upper Hutt Institutes. Items given by the folio-wing ladies were very much enjoyed: Mrs. Gailey, pianoforte solo; Mrs. Queree, a song; Miss Prouse, a song; and Mrs. Harrison, a humorous recitation. Mrs. Gibbson Young -was called on to light the candle of the birthday cake which -was daintily iced by Mrs. Eskley and made by Mrs. Ching. Mrs. Queree, as past president, cut the cake. Mrs. Simpson won the competition of guessing the weight of the birthday cake. Mesdames Wale and Eskley won the Monte Carlo dance.
