VICE-REGAL VISIT.
Her Excellency Lady Galway visited the St. Joseph's Orphanage last week, and was received by the Rev. Mother Ambrose. The children presented Her Excellency 'with a bouquet of flowers, who in her reply to the 'welcome extended, stated it was a pleasure to see so many bright faces, and expressed a desire to visit the children again at some future date. The respective classes rendered appropriate songs. Miss Irene Graham (Auckland), who has been the guest of Mrs. Ken Andersen, has now returned home. Miss Mavis Morris (Masterton) is paying- a visit to her aunt, Mrs. Ken Andersen. Last Wednesday the first meeting of the Ministers' Fraternal was held in the Salvation Army Hall. The Rev. Hunt was elected chairman and Captain Kirkpatrick secretary. It -was decided to apply for permission to give religious instruction in schools every Thursday morning. The Salvation Army would appreciate parcels of clothing to distribute among needy cases which have come to theixnotice lately. The ladies of the Home League are sewing and knitting garments and would be g-rateful for any parcels left at the Salvation Army Hall. By the time these notes are printed the first Catholic euchre will have been held. The next one will be held in the U.S.A. rooms on Thursday, the 21st inst. and every fortnight thereafter for the rest of the season.
