"DAVID COPPERFIELD"
at the Majestic. "David Copperfield," the sensational hit picture which comes to the Majestic Theatre starting Saturday, Februai-y 15, promises to be unusual in many respects. It is the picture -which introduces to the screen little Freddie Bartholomew, the ten-year-old boy who is hailed as the greatest screen "find" since Jackie Coogan. Freddie plays the juvenile "David." It is an adaptation of a novel which has entertained millions, and was called by its author, Charles Dickens, "my favourite child." Sixty-five stars are featured players are in the unprecedented cast. Among the stars are W. C. Fields, Lionel Barrymore, Madge Evans, Maureen O'Sullivan, Edna May Oliver, Lewis Stone, Frank Lawton, Freddie Bartholomew, Elizabeth Allen, Roland Young, Basil Rathbone, Hugh Williams, Herbert Mundin —to mention only a few. The picture has been more than a year in preparation and production, setting a new record for lavishness. "CHAINED" LAVISHLY STAGED AND PERFECTLY ACTED. Based on an original story by Edgar Selwyn, the narrative of "Chained" concerns itself with a girl who by force of circumstances is tied to one man but loves another. The various romantic and sometimes tragic interludes through which the girl passes before she is able to find release from her bondage make for a story which holds its full measure of lightning-like action, suspense and dramatic power. It is obvious that the story was especially written for Miss Crawford and Gable for it is skilfully designed to give each the sort of role in which the respective stars have proved themselves outstanding in the past.
