Invercargill Races. — Second day. Splendid weather, and attendance large. Handicap Hurdle Race.— White's Sir Tatton, 151 5 Pollock's Don Pedro, 2 ; Unknown came to the

post but did not start. ' Invercargill Handicap.—Six started. White's Atlas. 1 ; White's Lindon, 2; Morrison's Stackpole, 3. This was a good race, although considered a certainty for" Atlas. Selling Race. — Young Leamington 1 ; Atlanta 2 ; Digger, 3 ; Ruf us, 4 ; Young Mahratta, 5. The -winner was bought in by owner for £27. The Consolation Stakes was the race of the day, Little Dan beating Stackpole on the post by a short head. The Gareloch, from London, has arrived at the heads, with immigrants. M'Lean and Dr. Pollen arrived at G-rahamstown to complete thp arrangements for the opening up of Ohinemuri country. The steamer Pretty Jane has been abandoned. r The New Zealand Insurance Co., loses £2500; South British, £2500. The Governor is unable to come south, this month, and postpones his visit till the autumn. (From a Correspondent.) Cboitwbll, February 12th. Last evening the services' in connection [-with the induction of the Rev. B. Drake to the pastorate of the Presbyterian congregation at Cromwell took place. The Revs. 'Messrs Bannerman Cameron and Telford, who were deputed, by the Clutha Presbytery, performed the ceremony usual to such occasions. A soiree was afterwards held in the Athenaeum Hall, when all the ministers present, excepting Mr. Telford, addressed the meeting. Mr. M-Kellar, Goldfields Secretary, and Mr. Purvis, Engineer, also delivered addresses, The affair was altogether a great success .
