WASTE LANDS BOARD.

(From the " Times.")

The regular weekly meeting (of the Waste Lands Board was held on Wednesday. There were present — Mr. Strode, iv the chair, and Messrs Buttcrworth and Clark. roroTUNOA, waibxfna, and sierbie ceeek BTJSH RESEEVES. The District Engineer reported on the state of these reserves. The members >conconsidered. from the report, .that it was clear the conditions of the lease had not been carried out. The Board resolved to recommend that the lease be cancelled, and the matter be referred to the General Government, for the opinion of the law officer, as to whether, according to the terms of the lease, that course could be adopted. INFOBMATION WANTED. A request was made to know whether the applicant, on abandoning sections 32 and 33, block VLL, Waipahee district should have occupation fee chargeable under clause 53 of the Waste Lands Act, 1872, remitted, This question was asked at the request of the Chief Commissioner. It was considered that rent should be paid for the current half year. BEQUEST POB REDUCTION OP BENT. Mr. James Holt requested that his rent, payable for coal lease be reduced from £10 to £5 per annum. Applicant wrfjte stating that he had expended £900 on the mine durthe last two years. Resolved that District Land Officer be asked to ' say whether there were any special circumstances in the case. ' APPLICATION FOB RE-HEAEIXO-Messrs Cargills, Gibbs, and Co., on behalf of Mr. D. M'Kellar, •requested a re-hearing of an application for pre-emptive right on run No. 328. Resolved that Mr M'Kellar's letter and application be referred to the District Land officer for his opinion. EXTENSION OF TIME. Mr. Walter Miller applied for three mouths' extension of time to survey his forest tree-planting area, Hill-End District. Request granted, Mr. Miller to be informed that no further extension of time would be allowed. APPLICATIONS FOB LAND. Mr. G. N. M'Donald's application for section 6, block IX., Leaning Rock, was granted, Mr". F. Grimmell's application for section 5, block X., same district,' was declined, as the Warden does not recommend its being granted. UPSET PBICES OP LAND. The Government submitted, for the approval of the Board, the upset prices of lands of special value in the Waipahee, Waikaka, and Chatto districts. "Agreed to. • T.fM"T> XT LEE STJEEAM Messrs Alexander, Andrew, David, and John Peat, and Alexander Peat, junr., applied to purchase sections in block V., Lee Stream district. Request granted, with the exception of 14, 15, 16a, and 16b, which were to be advertised and dealt with in the usual manner as land of special value. DEEP STBEAM. — APPLICATION TO PUECHASE LA#D. Messrß Gillies and Street, for Mr. Thomas Murray applied to purchase fifty acres on run 254, at his accommodation house, Deep Stream. The members present at the meeting were favourable to the sale, but, in the absence of Messrs Thomson and Reid, would not agree to granting the application, consi lering that, by disposing of the land, they might possibty interfere with some departmental arrangement. A decison on the application was deferred for a week.
