Tt is understood that the only condition on which Gillies accepted the jud^eship was that he would be located in Auckland. The Lrttelton murder. — A verdict of wilful murder agdin3t the man, Mercer, 1 for the murder of Isabella Thompson, was returned at 3 30 p.m. by the Jury at the adjourned inqnes-t: Wkllivotoit, January 19. The reported Russian conspiracy. — There has been a gigantic conspiracy in Russia, although officially denied. It was intended to assassinate the Governors of 14 Provinces. Some of them of the best families in thy country are implicated. Young ladies have been arrested and sent to Siberia, and the inhabitants of two whole villages have been also sent there.
