MAIDEN PLATE, of 25 soys.; entrance, 2 guineas ; weight for age ; distance, \\ mile ; for horses that have never won an advertised prize exceeding £15 — hack races and matches exeepted. LAWRENCE HANDICAP, of 55 soys., with a sweepstake of 2 guineas ; the second horse to receive amount of sweepstake. Nomination, with 1 g"inea enclosed, to be received by the Secretary up to 7 o'clock p.m. on Tuesday, the 12th January. Weights to be declared in the Tuapeka Times of the 13th, and tho " Otago Guardian " of the 14th. Acceptances, with 2 guineas, together with sweepstake of 2 guineas, to bo received by the Secretary before 7 o'clock on Wednesday evening, January 20th, 1875. Distance, H mile. DISTRICT HANDICAP, of 25 soys.; entrance, 305. ; twice round the course ; horses to be bona fide property of owners 2 months pr.ior to .tlato of " races, residing within 20 miles of Lawrence. FLYING HANDICAP, of 35 soys. Nomination, with 2- guineas entrance fee, receivable up to 7 o'clock p.m. on Wednesday, 20th January, 1875. Distance, 1 mile. The winner of the Lawrence Handicap to carry 51b penalty. HACK SELLING RACE, of 15 soys. Winner to be sold for 15 soys ; any surplus to go to the fund. Mile heats ; entrance, £1. Three horsee to start, or no race. No weight upder 10»t. ; post entry. SECOND DAY. MEMBERS' HANDICAP, of 25 soys. Same conditions as District Handicap. 1£ mile; entrance, £1 10s. Entries to be made on night of general entry. Weights to appear on the night of the first day's racing. TUAPEKA JOCKEY CLUB HANDICAP, of 75 soys., with a sweepstake of 2 •guineas added; the amount accruing from sweep to be given to the second horse. Nominations, with 2 guineas, receivable up to 7 o'clock p.m. on the 20th January ; weights to appear on the night of the first day's racing, at nine o'clock ; acceptances, with 3 guineas, and amount of sweepstake, receivable up to 10 o'clock on the same evening. Distance, 2 miles. NOVEL RACE, a handicap of 50 soys. Entrance, 2 soys. ; H mile. The winner to be sold by auction with his engagements, and the whole of the proceeds to go to the funds. Weights to be declared on night of first day's racing. HACK RACE, of 10 soys. 1 mile heats ; catch weights. Three to start, or no race. Entrance, 155. ; post entry. CONSOLATION HANDICAP, of 20 soys. ; for all beaten horses ; distance, 1£ mile 3 entrance, £1 10s. RULES AND REGULATIONS. Mares and geldings allowed 31b. All disputes, claims, and objections arising out of the racing shall be decided by the Stewards, or whoever they may appoint. Their decision upon all points connected with the carrying out of the programme shall be final. < ... .- No person shall be allowed to enter or run a horse for any race in this programme (post entry races .exeepted) unless both owner and nominator be subscribers to the Race Fund of not less than two guineas. Entries to be received by the Secretary, at his office, up to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, 20th January. Entrance money, enclosed with name, age, and pedigree (if any) of the horse, and name of owner and colors of the rider. Any Jockey riding except in the colors entered will be fined £2. Five per cent, will be deducted from the gross amount of all stakes for expenses. Horses walking over will receive 50 per cent, of the stakes. The Tuapeka Jockey Club Rules will be * strictly enforced. entering protests will require to deposit one guinea. If protests should be sustained, the guinea to be returned. WM. HAVES, Secretary. Young Clyde is by Thane of Clyde, out of Black Polly, who was imported to Victoria, and sold for the sum of £220; grand-sire, the renowned champion horse Prince Charlie, who was never "beaten in Scotland or the Australian Colonies. He was imported to Victoria by J. and M. Mackintosh ; granddam, the far-famed and renowned Black Diamond (imported), winner' of the Port Philip Farmers' Society Challenge Cup for seven years in succession, and never suffered defeat. She was tho property of J. Kearnon, Esq., Moonee Ponds. . YouifG Clyde was got by Thane of Clyde, imported by Hugh M'Lean, Esq. He gained Ist prize at the Southland Show, 1867 ; Ist prize at Tokomairiro, 1868 ; 2nd prize at the Taieri, the same year; and Ist prize at the Molyneux, 1869. He was taken ,back to Victoria, and- was sold there for £500 to go to Canterbury, but died at the Bluff. Young Clyde is a dark cheanut, stands 18 hands high, with plenty of bone and sub stance, and is, without doubt, the surest foalgetter in the Province. His stock has been sold in Dunedin market at £120 for two two3 ear-olds, thus proving that he does not disgrace his ancient lineage. Tebms, £3, payable on the Ist February, 1875, or £1 extra will be charged after that date , Grbomage, 55., payable at time of first service.
