Correspondence. SAND! SAND! SAND!

{To the Editor.) Sic, — In a recent issue of your paper was an effusion from 'I Anti-Sand," purporting, as I imagine, to be an answer to mine as indicated above, but which in my opinion,, was so near, perfection that it ijeeds no answer from yours, &c. ; bul -there are reports afloat appertaining to the interest and prosperity of our little town, which compels me again to ask space in your columns, not, in this instance, to find fault (which I always deplore) but rather to correct an opinion afloat here, which Un substane'e is tjhat our engineer of roads is open to be talked over — (please understand that I do not mean " bought-over," for -such a thing, I believe, |he is quite incapable of being) — viz., chat he may be so flattered as to fall into the views of a contractor, who may be so fortunate as to have his contract accepted by the Government. Now, I may state by way of explanation that this opinion has been expressed here, and it may be by unsuccessful tenderers ; but, nevertheless, when these opinions are expressed, it is nothing but right that they should be ma.ie public through the press, so that those most nearly interested may have a knowledge of what is going on, In conclusion, let me inform^Mr. Anti-Sand that, {although we appear to agree on most points, I really do not believe his arguments are right in the main ; further, how was it that since the very night; •the Tuapbka Times, in which appeared the letter signed "Sand," arrived at Alexandra^ not a single stroke of work of any description lias been' done to this sand road since. There it remains, and what can be seen of it ■in Oh everlasting disgrace in my opinion, either to Mr. Busy-body or the road engineer. — I am, &c., ,' " ' Sah3>. Alexandra. ' " ' ' '
