ing were withdrawn both in Tuapeka West : — Thomas Scott, sections G and 7, block VII. ; Henry Scott, sections 15 and 16 block VII. The application of David Davies for an extended claim of one acre, situated at the head of Tuapeka Plat, was granted ; also, that of Chung Yui and Yock Dane (Mr. Copland for applicants) for an extended claim of two acres, situate at Munros Gully, and for a race. Their application for a dam and head race was adjourned to view the ground. Kirn Sling, Ah Sam, and Ah Kit ap_plied for an extended claim of three acres, situate at Redden s Flat. Granted. Young Tick and others applied for an extended claim of three acres, at Munros Gully. Adjourned to view the ground. The application of Abraham Long and Jacob Long for an extended claim of two acres, situate at Wetherstones. Ad j ourned to view the ground. The application of David Murray for a residence area, at Wetherstones, was adjourned to view the ground. Kirn Sling, Ah Kit, and Ah Sam applied for a tail race at Tuapeka Flat. Granted. Alexander M'lntyre, and also Kirn Sling, Ah Sam, and Ah Kit, applied for a head race at Tuapeka Flat. As both had expended labor on the race, the applications were adjourned for one week, to give them an opportunity of settling between themselves. Pierce Power v. Sutherland & Poison. — This was an information charging the defendants with depasturing 170 sheep on the goldfields without a license to do so. Messrs. Scott, Evans, Ross, and Bushe, Wardens, gave evidence in support of the charge, "which was proved. It being a first offence, and the first of the kind brought before the Court, his Worship inflicted the lenient fine of £10, with £5 12s. costs. Mr. M'Coy appeared for the plaintiff. Pierce Power v. John M'Bae. — This was a similar charge. Mr. M'Coy for the plaintiff ; Mr. Gooday for the defendant. Messrs. Rowe and Fraser proved that 50 sheep at least were trespassing on the commonage in September last. Mr. Gooday cross-examined the witnesses to show they were unfriendly to the defendant. Fined £7, and £3 10s. costs.
