WASTE LANDS BOARD.
The weekly meeting of the Board was held yesterday. Present : The Chief Commissioner Mr. Thomson, in the chair ; and Messrs. Strode, Butterworth, Bastings, Clark, and Reid. MINOTTES. The minutes of the previous meeting -were read and confirmed. OCCUPATION LICENSES. The amended form of occupation licenses, under clause 53 of the Otago Waste Land Act, 1872, was submitted for approval. The Board resolved to refer the matter to the Provincial Solicitor, in order to obtain his opinion as to its powers to issue such licenses drawing his attention particularly to clauses 2, 6, and 7. TRANSFER OF SAW-MILL LEASES. Mr. Mouat, for Herbert, Howat, and Co., asked the Board to approve of the transfer of saw-mill leases from Ferry to Youugson, and from Voungaou to Herbert, Howat, and Co., — approved. ruv^ 8 - A 104+ *>f «r o —■ * a from Mr. vv araen vv oou, relttive ~ &c& c application of Stewart and j rj r ,, tor a pre-emptive right on run 328. Mr. M'Kellar, the present occupant of the run objectfl i j<, appeared that Meesrs. Stewart and Gow were the owners of the run at- the time of ] making their application, but it had since come into the possession of Mr. M* Kellar. The Board declined to grant an alteration in the pre-emptive right. APPLICATION TO EXCHANGE LEASES. R. Pritchard, section 32, block VIII. , Shotover. —Approved. William Godwin, section 48, block V., Tuapeka East. — Approved. CLYDE. Mr. A. R. Mackay applied to purchase an acre Of ground at the corner of Stockton and Whitby-streets, Clyde. Application refused. "WAIPORI. Mr. John Lawson wrote asking for an extension of time to survey the land included jn his saw-mill application at Waipori. The Board granted an extension of three months. APPLICATIONS TO PURCHASE LAND. Herbert, M'Kinlay, and Co., sections 1, 2, 3, and 4, block 111, Beaumont. — 3 and 4 approved, 1 and 2 with-held.
