Dunedin, September 11th. His Honor Judge Chapman leaves for Lawrence on Monday.

A lars;e and influentially attended meeting was held to-day of settlers on the Peninsula, and those interested in the formation of a railway to the Ocean Beach and Portobello. A resolution favorable to the construction of the line was carried nem. con., and a Provisional Committee appointed.

At a meeting of the settlers of ihe Western district yesterday, great indignation was expressed at Mr, Jas. M'lntosh's avowed commission to intervieAV the Excntive, in order to have the present proposed site of railway station junction at Otautau and Makarewa lines altered. The feeling was strongly in favor of the site chosen by the district engineer.
