WARDEN'S COURT, LAWRENCE.
Wednesday, 19th August. "(Before E. H. Carew, Esq., Warden.) The following applications were refused, the land having been already sold by tho Waste Lands Board :"— John Thomas and Alexander Lowery for agricultural leases of ■•ctions 36, 37, and 38, of block IV., Waitahuna East, respectively. Mr. Holmes appeared for the applicant. The application of Thomas Treloar for an agricultural lease of 6e-tion 23, block 1., Tuapeka East, was granted, O'Brien withdrawing Ins objection. Mr. Copland appeared for the applicant. James Keppell and John Fitzgerald auplied for an agricultural lease of section 58, 'block VI., Tuapeka West. The application of James f Keppell was one day earlier than the other. The land is on the Mining Reserve. Hiß Worship adjourned the application to view the ground, saying, however, that it was very unlikely that either application would be granted. He also said that he did not wish hurriedly to interfere, as it was likely the Ranger would visit the spot to enquiry into trespasses, Mr. M'Coy appeared for James Keppell 3 Mr. Copland for John Fitzgerald. William Simeon applied for section 19, block VIII., Hilleud. Adjourned for survey. James Cook's application for section 13, block VIII., Hillend, was adjourned for survey. Mr. Squires appeared for the apjttf&nt. ' "The application of W. J. Dyer for an agricultural lease was adjourned to next Court day. The Otago Gold Mining Co., Registered, applied for a head race and tail race. The Perseverance Company and Morriaon and Company objected. After some discussion, the consideration of the application was adjourned for three weeks. Mr. M'Coy appeared for 4he objectors. J. Pirn and others applied for a head race, and also for a diversion. Mr. King appeared for the applicants. Adjourned to view the the ground. Lucy Smith applied for a residence area at Ballarat Hill, near Wetherstones. Smyth and party objected, on the ground tlmt the application encroached on their claim and was for auriferous ground. Refused. Ching Hee and others applied for an extended claim of 2 acres behind Mr. White's blacksmith's shop. Adjourned to view the land ; also for a tail race, which 5 application •was similarly dealt with. Mr. King for the applicants.
