WARDEN'S COURT, LAWRENCE.
Wednesday, 12th August. (Before B. H. Carew, Esq., Warden.) The following applications for agricultural leases were granted : — Andrew Kay for section 23, block IV., Waitahuna East ; Robert Murray for section 11, block VI., Waitahuna East. This application was adjourned the last Court day, as the applicant was not then present, and his brother, John Murray, who appeared, did not answer the questions put satisfactorily. His Worship said, in granting the certificate, that he did not think John Murray meant to mislead, but that, he vgm confused. Andrew M'Beath for section 37, block 1,, Waitahuna West ; " James Keppel for section 34, block VI., Tuapeka West— Oharles Jansen, who had applied for this, withdrew* his application ; Ebenezer Jackson for section 20, block IV., Waitahuna East. The following were granted subject to survey : — William Johnston for section 5, block XI V Waitahuna West; and Hugh Clark, for whom Mr. M<Coy appeared, German Gully to be excluded from the last application. James Blackie had applied for an agricultural lease, but was not of full age. ■ His Worskip -said he had no discretion allowed hitn. He could not grant the application. On Mr. Holmes intimating to the Warden, that the applicant was a prize ploughman, and over 19 years of age, his* Worship suggested that he should withdraw, and some one else of full age might apply who waa interested in tho applicant. Thomas Trcloar applied through Mr. Copland for an agricultural lease. . He and O!Brien were in authorised occupation of the ground. His Worship did not seem inclined to forward the views of the one at the expense of the other, though urged to do so by counsel. Ho adjourned the case for a second time, to allow the parties to' come to some arrangement 'oeiSreen tueroselTes before th(? application was proeedeel with. Kitto and others applied for a head race. Granted. Ah Wye and others applied through Mr. Gooday for an extended claim. Granted on the representation that no existing rights were intefered with. James O'Brien and Cornelius O'Gorman applied for an extended claim at the juuetion of the Tuapeka Creek with the Tuapeka. River. It Occurred that probably Kiely might have- somo esiatiag right over this ground uncancelled-; the matter was therefore adjourned to haye this made plain.
