IMMIGRATION RETURN.

A return of immigration has recently been laid before' the Colonial Legislature, showing the number of immigrants assisted and nominated from the Ist of July, 1873, to 31sfc May, 1874, the charterer's rate of passage, total cost of passage, amount paid by assisted immigrants prior to leaving England, amount of notes given by the same, aud tlfe amount paid in cash or bills toward their passages. The following are tho totals of the arrivals in the various provinces to the 31sfc of May, and also to fche date of the return, 25th of June, 1873 :—

Of the 15,102 immigrants who arrived up to July Ist, 10,957 a- "were assisted, and 1,415 i were nominated, being a total of 12,373 adults. The nationalities of the above are : —
