{From a Correspondent!) - Wellington, July 14th.

On the recommendation of the General Government, the Governor yesterday refused to sanction the Otago Gold Duty Remission Ordinance. The Provincial Government of Otago opposed the Bill becoming law ; hence its disallowance.

The copies of the telegrams between Judge Ward and Mr. Yogel re Justice Chapman were laid on the table this afternoon. They are substantially the same as appeared in the "Daily Times." Copies were sent to Mr, Chapman by Mr. Yogel on the 25th April.

It is estimated that £700,000 will be expended this year in the introduction of 30,000 free immigrants.
