NEW WIMBLEDON REGULATIONS.
The ' Illustrated London News,' of March 28, contains the following modifications in the rules for prize firing :— Ihe targets for the future will be on the Swiss system — a circle* of 40in diameter at ■200 yds ; a cire'e of 70in at 500 and 600 yds ; at 800 93 ', and I,oooyds, and at 400 yds for volley riling, 6ft by 12ft. The divisions on the lace of tbe target sha'l be :— At 20 lyds, •mil's eye circular, Bin in diameter ; cenue ciicular, I6iu ; inner circular, 28in ; and outer circular, 40in. At 500 and 600yd3 •hey range front 22in in the bull's-eye circular to 70in in the outer circular. At the long ianges-800, 900, and 1,000 yards— the bull's eye will be 3ft ci cular ; the centre, 4ft Civ circular ; the inner, 6f fc square; and the outer on the remain ler of the target. At 400 yds volley the bull's-eye shall bs 2ft wide across the target ; centre, lft above and lft below bull's-eye ; an 1 oater on the remaiuder of the target. In all cases the bull's-eye shall count a« 4 ; centre, 3 ; inner, 2 ; and outer, 1 The size of the carton targets shall be :— At 200 yds, 4') in in diameter ; at 500 yds, 60in ; at 600 yds, 70in ; and at 800 yds, 70iu. The size ot the carton is to remain the same' as last year. It will be perceived that an inner has been added to the mode of scoring, thus taking the place of the outer, which now counts only one. In individual shooting, ties shall be shot off, except where money prizes of equal value shall be at stake when the tieing competitors will be bracketed as equal. The , register keeper in obarge of tbe tie-shooting may (according to instructions) call upon any competitor there and then to tire a second, and even a third shot. In squad or maich shooting, if for a money prize, the tie will be decided by division ; if for a prize n kind, by tbe aggregate scores made at the i longest distance in the competition ; if still a tie, by the fewest outers ; and, if still a tie, by the competitors on each side who have made tbe highest scores in the competition firing five rounds at the longest distance. In sp< cial cases ties will be decided by dividing the prizes an i by the fewest outers ; in volley- firing by division, by the fewest outers, and by the fewest misses ; if still a tie, by awarding the prize to be held for equal periods of the year by the successful battalions.
