Wednesday, 34th Jtob, The following applications fpr agricultural leases were adjourned for survey :— James Blackie (represented by Mr. Hplmee), for section 15, block VI., Waitahuna East j William Hislop, for section 13, block VI., Tuapeka East ; James Caaill, for section 57, block VI., Tuapeka West ; James Thornton Turner, fa? epction 75, block y s , Twpeka gaat}
Seppran Rowe,Jfor section 39, blotis V., To*. peka East j William Drarjer^oTlßetion 82, block V., Tuapeka East; and Alexander Humphrey (Mr. Holmes appeared for the applicant), for section 25, block Tl.,Tuape^ East.
The application of James M'Gowan Clst\ for sections 47 and 48, block X., Tuapek* East, was adjourned for one week. -
Andrew Miller applied -for an agriculture lease of sections 4 and 14, block X., Hillenl Mr. M'Coy said that he had received a tele. gram from James Pettigrew that the land was auriferous, and that a large number of people ware residing on it, and iastructiog him to oppose the application. The appli. cant having been examined on oath, tH« matter was allowed to stand over for fourteen days to allow the objector time to appear with his evidence.
The applicfition of Robert Dewar for aj agricultural lease of sections 3 and 10, blocfc VI., Tuapeka East, was granted. Mr. M'Coj for the applicant. The application of Henn Galbraith for the same area was withdrawn.
The application of Stewart M'Combe for an agricultural lease of section 37, block XXIII^ Tuapeka East was objected to by D. Davis en the ground that the land was auriferous. J{r M'Coy, who appeared for the applicant, say he was instructed that the applicant had before applied for a section near this, which wy objected to on the same ground and refused, but was afterwards granted to Livingston, The applicant had lately purchased a sheeprun, to which this section was adjacent, ami he required some land like this for a home, stead, as the run was too high and cold in winter to live on. His Worship ad journe4 the case to view the ground. The objector thought he could not point it out, as the pe^ and trenches were not there.
John Hall and Robert Grieve applied for leave to extend their tailrace under portion of the Otago Gold Mining Company's claim. This was objected to by the manager, Mr. James Campbell, who said that thb would very likely interfere with his Company 1 ! blasting. Adjourned to view the ground. The applications of Thomas "Hoare for an agricultural lease of section 1, block 1., Tuapeka East, and of Thomas Hoare, Patrick Iftely, and John Stapleton for section 20, block 1., Tuapeka East, were granted. Mr. M'Coy for the applicants. Ah Mong and Ah Sing applied by Mr. King for an extended claim and tail race, which were both granted.
Alexander M'Nab, George Thompson, and Edward Lawson applied for a head race and a tailrace to be used in connection with t machine site, which was also under application. Mr. Jt/L l Coj, who appeared for the applicant, said that the machine site would not surveyed for over a year if it took its regular turn of survey. His Worship said that if it could be shown to him that machinery trsi actually .purchased, he would do what he could to hasten the survey. It would be mow convenient to defer the present applications until the application for the machine si to wm disposed of. There were several objections, which were not, however, very strongly urged.
The Otago Gold Mining Company, Registered, applied for an extension of a headraca There was an objection on behalf of the Perseverance Company, but this was withdrawa by the Manager, Mr. Clayton. Granted.
