{From our own Correspondent.) DtrNEDiir , May 29. The financial statement; will not be delivered before Monday. None of the bodies of the men who were drowned have yet been recovered. The Stead Committee have been canvassing town to-day, and have brought the subscription list up to nearly £100. The Janet Conrt, 93 days from Glasgow, arrived to-day.

In the Provinci.vl Council to-day, the Goldfialds Committee reported on the petition of Kirton and party, who prayed for a reward for the discovery of the Orepuki goldfields ; on the petition of John Ardered Valdred, wh-> prayed .for reward as prospector' of Orepiikignldfield, and that petitioners had no claim on the Government. The Alhauibra arrived at the Bluff this morning from Melbourne. Melbourne, May 23. Four men have been killed and three injured hy jnining accidents at Maryborough and Sandhurst. At a fire at Chines, three young children were burned to death. Mr. Bright, journalist, well-known in New Zealand, died at Sandhurst.
