(From the Dunedin Dailies. ) Wellington, May 15th. The A. S. N. Co.'s steamer City of Adelaide wi 1 bring down the next English mail from Kaudavii, transhipped ex Tartar. The business of the Synod has been merely of a formal character as ynt. Mr Oalcutt and another gentleman have been appointed by the Superintendent to proceed shortly through the Province, for the purpose of selecting blocks of land to be sold under the deferred payment system. The imports at Wellington during the March quarter are £237,573. For the corresponding quarter of 1873, they were £177,851. The exports are £333,731, against £265,732 for the first quarter of 1873.

Auckland, May 18th. At the Police Court to-day, Macfarlane called, Mr. Beckham, E.M., on the Bench, Mr. Eees, Harris's counsel, objected to proceed on the ground that Macfarlane was closeted with Mr. Beckham subsequent to laying the information. He (Mr. Eeid) said ho had reported the whole circumstances to the Q-overnment, and was content to abide the result. Mr. Beckham said he had not seen the information when he had an interview with Macfarlane. No evidence being called, both the charges were dismissed. Chhistchukcii, May 18th. Mr. Ducane, Q-overnor of Tasmania, arrived here on Saturday evening, and, after stopping a few days, will proceed overland to Dunedin. Lyttelton, ]vi a y 18th. The Shipping Company's eighth ship, Inverene, sails for London to-morrow, with 7800 bags of wheat, 356 bales of wool, 1300 cases of meats, and 50 tons of tallow.
