{Fro7ti our own Correspondent.) Dunedin, May 19th. Tlie motion of Mr. Fish for a select committee to inquire into matters connected with the Treasury Department, was negatived by 19 votes to 11. The select committee on Port Chalmers Hallway have reported to the Council, and recommend the expenditure of over £50,000 in order to meet the growing requirements of the traffic. At the sale by Mr, Milner of sections of reclaimed land to-day, prices ranged from £1175 to £1500 per quarter acre. Eight -sections were sold, the amount realised being £10,710. At Napier to-day, Michael Myell was crushed to death in the pilot boat between the steamers Patterson and Pretty Jane.
