Sib. — The case of Glassford v. the Tinkers' miners appears to be another of the many bold attempts of the great squatting community to encroach upon the priviliges of their fellow settlers. The vulture-like re--pacity for power wliich characterises the .equatters of .late, would soon prevent any one else but them from making an attempt even at opening up the resources of this country". ,If they are allowed to pursue their course . unchecked <the;^ mining' community lias only two courses left to pursue, cither to resist , their encroachments en wcusse or to turn- their backs at once ! upon that field of industry, which their intrepidity and persistent energy .has ,opened up to the world ; and then they . might look for another home," where • their ["interests* are at'* least protected' against" 1 the -.glaring injustice of a class of people, whose _ principle is to' promote their own interests in . defiance even of' tho welfare of their fellowcitizens. — I am, &c.
