THE TOWN HALL.
{To the Editor.) Snk— ■Referring to an argument that Occupied the Down Council some time ago as to the advisability of using imported in preference to native timber in our Town Hall, I wish to draw the attention of the citizens to the few planks that have just arrived from the Tuapeka Mouth Mills. These planks appear to me as if they were but recently cut, as the sap is to be seen oozing from them. Surely this will go but a little way to support the argument of birch versus Oregon, and I think it a standing disgrace to the Eatepayers if they allow such green timber to be used in the construction of a public building for which they will be so heavily taxed. — I am, &C VTQ.TT.fWT
