RECEPTION OF MR. HOLLOWAY AT ROXBURGH.

JL Committee meeting, in connection with • the reception of Mr. Holloway was hold at Mr. Beighton's Commercial Assembly Boom, Roxburgh, on Monday evening last. Mr. Manuel having been called to the chair, it was proposed by Mr. Mackay, and seconded by Mr. Beighton, •' That the Secretary be instructed to telegraph to Mr. Malaghan, mayor of Queenstown, requesting him to telegraph to the Committee, Roxburgh, the probable date of Mr. Holloway's arrival here." — Carried. Proposed by Mr. Burton, and seconded by i Mr. Birch, " That immediately the Secretary receives information, he be instructed to convene a meeting of the Committee to decide what steps shall be taken to receive Mr. Holloway, and to meet and accompany him." — Carried. Proposed by Mr. Beighton, and seconded by Mr. Cormack, " That the Secretary communicate with the Government, expressing regret at being informed that Mr. Ireland, M.P.G., ha,d received intimation from them stating that the block of agricultural land on run 369, promised to be thrown open by Messrs. Bastings and. TurnbuU on behalf of the Government, and also favorably reported upon by Mr. M'Kerrow on their behalf, will not be opened up in terms of such promise, and asking reasons for such unexpected and inconsistent proceedings." — Carried. Proposed by Mr. Mackay, and seconded by Mr. Anderson, " That the Committee have a detailed statement prepared for Mr. Holloway of the inducements made to intending settlers, and the obstructions made by the Government, with a view to publishing the same." — Carried. Proposed by Mr. Woodhouse, and seconded by Mr. Anderson, "That the Government be asked when it is their intention to throw open tbe blocks of land on run 199, promised by them to be opened for sale on deferred paymrat, and favorably reported on by Mr. M'Kerrow, the Government surveyor, and also subsequently promised to be opened up by Messrs, Turnbull and Bastings." — Carried. Proposed by Mr. Birch, and seconded by Mr. Burton, " That the newspapers be supplied with copies of tfo above resolutions," — Carried,,
