O'Snannessy have been appointed Knights Commanders of St. Michael and St. George. The British had to fight two battles before reaching Commassie. Our losses are severe. Three hundred were killed and wounded at Commassie. The King promised to come and •ign the treaty of peace. . , s
City election. — At 4.40 p.m., the Returning Officer declared the state of the poll to bo —Reeves, 588 ; Cargill, 428 ; Isaacs, 56 ; and Chapman, 50. The English Opera Company are passengers by the Omeo. A case involving a charge of malpractice against Dr. M'Brearty, West Taieri, was commenced in the Resident Magistrate's Court this morning. Hume reiterates his story about Leichardt's relics having been stolen from him, which nobody believes. The Palmer River rush is over ; all are returning. There are many dying from exhaustion and starvation on the way.

The Barrons Creek telegraph station has been attacked by Blacks. The telegraph master and lineman were killed, and the operator and a black boy seriously injured.
