On Sunday last over 500 mourners followed the remaiDß of the late Mr. Adam Johnston, Eesident Engineer, Tokomairiro, from lie parsonage to the cemetery at Fairfax. This, the largest attendance ever known in the district on the occasion of a funeral, afforded- tangible proof of the high respect in which the deceased gentleman waß held. Many were present from Bunedin and other parts of the province. A post-mortem examination was made, and inquest held before fhe coroner, on Saturday last ; but boyond'the discovery of a small fracture of the skull, above the right eye, no further evidence was adduced as to the circumstances causing death, Other than thoße already published, and & verdict in accordance therewith was returned.
