(From the Dunedin Dailies. ) Auckland, January 24th. The divorce case, Carpenter v. Carpenter, resulted in a verdict for the petitioner on all the issues. The verdict will be reviewed at the Court of Appeal in March. The body of Mr. Henry Jevons, late manager of the Bank of New South Wales at Grahamstown, was found lying dead near a hotel at the Hot Springs. The deceased had been unwell for some time. At the inquest the jury l'eturned a verdict of " Died by the visitation of GolI." At a meeting of clergymen and others* it was resolved to wait on the Colonial Secretary and protest against running excursion trains on Sundays, as at present. Taueanga, January 24th. About twenty shocks of earthquake have been felt during the last tliree days. Some particularly heavy shocks were felt this morning. Nelson, January 24th. At a 'meeting of carpenters held last .night, it was resolved to strike in a fortnight for 10s. per day. Hitherto the men have been receiving 9s. per day. The Customs revenue last quarter was £12,000, be'iug £1140 more than on the previous quarter, Christchurch, January 24th. The Provincial Council was prorogued yesterday. The total sum expended during the session exceeded a, million. Wellington, January 26th. Robert Fulton, late carpenter of the William Tapscott, obtained a judgment in the Resident Magistrate's Court to-day, with £50 damages and costs, against Captain M'lntyre, the American Consular Agent, for the value of a chest of tools belonging to the plaintiff. The tools were taken away in the vessel, and Captain M'lntyre promised to become responsible for them. Auckland, January 26th.
