Correspondence.
ROXBURGH PUNT. (To the Editor.) Sin, — I was much surprised to read in your paper a letter from "Looker On," stating'that the reason the hospital entertainment was not better attended by the residents on the opposite side of the river was because it was held at a place which did not suit them, and which was supposed to be for the benefit of one man. Considering that a month or two ago a concert took place at the schoolhouse (on behalf on the English church), where there is no convenience at all for those taking part in the performance to dress, &c, and that the room was crowded, and the receipts only amounted to £15, whereas the receipts at the hospital entertainment were about £20, and the room certainly not more crowded than the schoolroom, there is, I think, ample proof that " Looker On " did not look enough into the subject, but was merely serving his own private spleen. — I am, &c, A SUBSCRIBER TO THE HOSPITAL Roxburgh, 16th January.
