WASTE LANDS BOARD.
The Board met at 11 o'clock on Thursday, when there -were present — The Chief Commissioner (in the chair), and Messrs Bastings, Bntterworfch, Strode, Keid, and Clark. Mr. Sampson U'Ren applied to purchase four acres of block 11 , Teviot, on which hi 3 house stands. It was agreed to have the runholder'a consent, and the report of the District Land Officer, before the application could be considered. The report of Mt. Carew, District Land Officer, on the application of Mr. W. Miller for 150 acres on block X., Hillend, was received. It was decided to have the land surveyed prior to its being sold by auction. Mr. Jainea Sutherland renewed his application for 400 acres at Table Hill, which was refused. MINING AUTHORITY, Mr. H. 0. Clayton and others wrote requesting that an authority to mine on part of secfion 12, Block XIX., Tuapeka East, should be recorded, together with the opinion of the Provincial Solicitor that " the Board had no right to sell auriferous land, and that Clayton's remedy was against the Board." The matter was considered purely one for Executive action, and was therefore referred ot the Q.pv^nuoen.t
EXCHANGE OT AGRICULTURAL LEASES^' **- The following applications for exchanges of agricultural leases were approved of :— Mr. W. M Iver, sections 1, 2, 3. Block 1., Wendon; Mr. J. H. Davidson, 11,28, 39, Block I-, Wendon ; Mr. J. Patereon, section 12, Block 1., Wendon. In respect to an |application made by Mr. Vale as to valuation for improvements on sections occupied in Tapanui, the Board decided that no valuation should be allowed except where there are snbstantial dwellinghouses of boards, brick, or stone.
