(Before E. H. Carew, Esq., R.M.) Wednesday, Bth October. . Jane Kelly Shuw, charged with stealing ss. from the premises of Wm. Walker, of Waitahuna, was convicted, and sentenced to two months imprisonment in Her Majesty Goal, Dunedin.

Andrew Ferguson, for allowing one horse to stray within the town boundary, was fined 10a., with costs of Court, and ss. the expense of the poundkeeper, -who was subpoaned to prove the case. wjiiinm Yin? was chargea with assault* in^ Mr " George Walker. The complainant stated that the accused having apologised to him, he would not press the charge, which was accordingly withdrawn. Michael o*Gonnan made a similar charge against the said William Pine. Mr. O'Gorman gave evidence with regard to the facts of the assault, which it appeared arose* out of the dispute between Pine, and Walker. John Ellis stated that he saw the quarrel, aud it appeared to him that Mr. O'Gorman brought the row upon himself by interfering between Walker and Pine, but could not swear who struck the first blow. Archibald Hogg gave similar evidence to thai of Ellis. His Worship considered that both parties were to blame, and (tismiased the case. The case of Cotton & Henry v. Riddell was a<rain called, bat adjourned to the 25th inst., to allow time to obtain the evidence, of defendant in Dnnedin. Tonks v. Grundy. — This was an aotion brought to recover tne value of bricks supplied by plaintiff to defendant. Mr. Copland for plaintiff asked for an ad- . jnurnrnent to allow the evidence of plain- ; tiff, who resides in Dunedin, .to be taken there. This was granted ; the case to come on on tha 24th, mat.
