Wellington, August 13. Mr. Yogel announced last evening that the Government would next session introduce a bill doing away with the miners' right qualification to vote, and substitute simple registration, without property qualification. The new tariff proposals to be 10 per cent, ad valorem all round, except on confectionery and biscuits, which are to be twopence per pound. Mining tools and iron are included in the new tariff ; also, gum and other boots. The Opposition are opposed to fresh taxation. Mr. Fitzherbert spoke four hours last night against the new tariff. The Government have a strong following, who will support them in any proposals. The Gold Mining Bill has received considerable amendments in Goldfields Committee, and will be reported to the House to-day. The Government express themselves anxious to bring the session to a close, and state their intention to drop many of their bills. There are now over fifty bills before the House for consideration.
