Mark Bell applied for a hawker's license. Granted.

Tuesday, August 12. (Before.E. H. Oarew, Esq., R.M.) Grieve v. M*DoiiaM. —This wa3 a case adjourned from 29th July, on which day Mr. M'Coy, for defendant, admitted indebtedness for the sum of £10 os. Id., but pleaded the Tippling Aot as a bar to the balance of the account, which was for wine and spirits supplied by the bottle. Mr. Mouat on that occasion submitted that Mr. Grieve, as holder of a wholesale license, was entitled to recover. An adjournment was granted, to enable the plaintiff's solicitor to look-up the law points in the case. On this day, after argument, judgment was given for £10 ss. 3d., with, costs of Court, £1, and one guinea professional fee. The judgment included several bottles of wine, which the Bench concluded did not come strictly under the meaning of the Tippling Act. A. . Humphrey v. Harold, Pyke — The summons in this case not having been; served, a fresh sumuion3 was ordered to be issued. Herbert S Go. v. H. Norton.— Claim for £21 16s. 6d. The defendant having paid £11 since the service of the summons a verdict was given fox the balance, with costs, £2. Nixon, v. Fitzgerald. — Claim for £1 55., balance <>f account for a pair of shafts and other work done to a dray. pleaded that he contracted with, plaintiffs man for the work for the sum of £2 2s. 9d,, which amount he paid to him. On© of the shafts broke a short time after, and plaintiff's man promised to put a new one. in fop nothing, as there was a flaw in the wood. W. Hears, examined, had seen the old shaft, and there certainly appeared a large gum vein, which would account for the breaking of the shaft. Judgment; for the defendant ; each party to pay their own costs* Mr. Gooday fur plain* tiff.
