THE SURFA CEMEN AND THEIR WORK
(To the Editor.) Sib, —Will you allow me a small piece of your paper to put in a few lines in answer to a letter that was in your paper of the 18th June, about the roadmen not working for the Government. I should like very well if Mr. M'Leod would explain himself, whether it was to the early days of roadmaking, or to the latter day's that he referred to the men as not working for the Government, bnt only for their vouchers. If Mr. M'Leod was along with them for one year, he might think that they worked hard enough and perhaps too hard; if it was not for the working men, perhaps he might get a trial of roadmaking or something not much better. Perhaps it would be a good job for the Government if they had a just man like Mr. M'Leod, so that the Government would get justice done to them along with a big day's work. — Yours, &c, Roadman. Beaumont, July 2.
