THE TOWN COUNCIL AND THE LAMPS.

(To the Editor.) Sin. — I have always given the present Town Council the credit of being a go-ahead one, but their action regarding the lamp posts almost compels mo to change my mind in that respect. Arc they waiting till summer comes in, with the object of saving kerosene ; or do they think that by simply erecting the posts (which stray horses and cattle scorn to think were put up for their special benefit) they have vindicated their character as a progressive Town Council. Tenders were called for some time ago for supplying kerosene and lighting lamps, but regarding tho result tve are left quite in the dark. However, a*, the municipal elections come off 1 soon, if wo put a few fresh councillors in we may perhaps get a little liglit thrown on the subject. — I am, &c, Paul Pky.
